Excavated Landscapes is a series that explores the act of excavating the painting itself rather than the landscape it depicts. Deep cutaways through the canvas reveal thick layers of accumulated paint, exposing the hidden material structure beneath the image. Familiar landscapes are transformed into physical objects where color, texture, and time are embedded within every layer. By revealing what normally remains concealed beneath the painted surface, the series invites viewers to experience landscape not only as an image, but as a tangible, sculptural material.
